It's ok to say "No"

Thought I'd post this just for us to think about!

Teacher Superpower

I just know we all have this superpower!!!

Keep Moving Forward

No matter what happens in life; continue to pick yourself up and keep moving forward.

Thank You!!!

Thank you to everyone in this reading cohort! I am truly blessed to have you as friends. The support and encouragements we give to each other is a big part of all our accomplishments.

What Will Your Day Be Like?

What happens everyday depends on what you make of it. Be positive and enjoy life.

Do not be so harsh on yourself for not doing good or for failing. Hey, it is okay to fail or to not be good in some things. Just never give up at all because once you do, then it is OVER!

Big or Small...

Success doesn't always present itself in a big way, sometimes we don't even recognize it. As an educator, I have learned to appreciate the everyday successes of my students - no matter how big or small. What's important is that they put in the effort...

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ― Ernest Hemingway We have reached the end of another semester. We all breathe a sigh of relief. Another semester done, and we get closer to meeting our goal of graduating. As we close the semester,we cannot help but look back at what we have accomplished. We cannot help but lament that we could have done better. It was a hurried, busy, sometimes chaotic, frustrating semester. However in the end, the reward was gratifying. Seeing the smile in the student's faces as they received their gifts and certificates more than made up for all the stress. Looking at the faces of their parents as they beamed proudly at their children was all worth the time and effort we put in planning and implementing our lessons. Yes, there were things we could have done better. There were times when we doubted the actions we were taking, and we felt unsure of the path we were following. But these and more are what made this semester a truly sublime journey.

NEVER GIVE UP!

Everything written here sums up what I believe.  After everything that has happened in my life thus far, I have remained strong and positive.  I remember to say these words: "NEVER GIVE UP!" No matter how hard the situation or how long the task, I managed to get by.  Thank you to all those who have been there for me.

Although the end of this journey is near, I know that there will still be obstacles that I need to overcome.  However, I will NEVER GIVE UP!

Thank you Dr. Rivera for being patient and understanding.  To my Tuesday crew: Ailene, Nicole and Gloria: Thank you for all your support, assistance, and cooperation. I will definitely miss our laughing sessions! To my other colleagues: Thank you for all your support and encouragement!

I love you will all my heart!  Remember...NEVER GIVE UP!

Reading Aloud

Those Wednesdays sessions with my student, I will surely miss. Reading aloud, partner reading, echo reading... so simple but has an in-depth effect. I couldn't agree more with Marilyn Jager Adams,
"Reading aloud with children is known to be the single most important activity for building the knowledge and skills they will eventually require for learning to read."

Reading Motivation

I would like to share one of the most profound quotations our school librarian used to motivate our students to read, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss
I can only wish that my student will be able to embrace the guiding principle behind this very meaningful quotation.

Started from the Bottom Now We're Here

Indeed, here we are at the finish.  At the start the semester this course appeared to be an uphill battle with us literally starting at the bottom.  We toiled the soil making impressions on the mountain until we eventually reached the other side.  Once the culminating event was in sight we made our way downhill.  For the majority, we are almost complete with our cohort.  That day is approaching, the day we cross the stage as Reading Specialists.

You have got to decide, look, this is who I am; this is my best way to present myself, and I'm going to ride that horse to the finish line. Not everybody will like it, but that's OK.

The more you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

Each one of us were challenged to put our best foot forward, entrusted with the development and enhancement of the skills in our student these past two semesters. Challenged to balance our personal, professional, and educational lives in pursuit of a masters degree. We are almost done. Two more courses and the praxis are the next challenge in this chapter of our lives. We continue to strive for a better living for the lives entrusted in our care in the classroom and our professional and personal livelihoods. Keep your head up! Trust yourself! and Lean on one another to make it through the next step.
